WHY BCHA?

At Brant County Hockey Academy our goal is to make you leave our sessions knowing you have improved as a hockey player. Whether it is your first time skating, or you're currently playing at an elite level, we are here to help. We have an extensive variety of on and off ice drills to help you maximize and improve your development as a player, regardless of the level of hockey you currently play. â€‹

During our sessions, we will focus on the specific areas you desire to improve in, as well as fine tune the strengths you already have.  At Brant County Hockey Academy, we know that every hockey player is different, with their own strengths and weaknesses, and you should come to BCHA only ready to compete against the player you were yesterday, striving to be better than you were before. BCHA will help you push yourself and attack your limitations to help broaden your hockey skill and become an overall better player.

We play hockey because we love it, so at BCHA it is a priority to enjoy ourselves on the ice as there is no better feeling than being out on the ice with your teammates.

Brant County Hockey Academy is confident that this is the place for you to bring your game to the next level. With elite coaching and teaching, players will feel and see themselves improving on and off the ice.

Zach Nastasiuk, Lead Instructor, Owner

Zach grew up in the Barrie, ON area playing AAA all the way up until he was drafted in the 1st round to the Owen Sound attack of the OHL.  He ended up playing four seasons with them, being the captain for two of those seasons. During that span, Zach was able to capture a u18 Gold medal for team Canada in 2013. He was then drafted 48th overall to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL draft. From there, Zach went on to play professionally for seven seasons, and won the 2019 AHL Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers.

Zach built his career off of hard work, commitment, and perseverance. At BCHA he plans to help instil these qualities into each player that steps on the ice with him, and help shape them into a better player. From his wealth of experiences while playing, Zach knows each player is unique, and although we all need the fundamentals, everyone has different areas to perfect. Zach will attack those areas while maintaining the players existing strengths, allowing the players to go home knowing that their game has improved and they have someone always willing to help.

OUR PROGRAMS

See our 3 flagship programs below. While BCHA offers custom tailored programs and training regimes to perfectly fit each individual player's needs, these are the 3 overarching categories of classes that we teach. One on one customizable coaching is also available.

FUNDAMENTALS PROGRAM

Skill development to help you build a strong foundation and take the next step in your hockey career. Passing, shooting. stick handling, skating etc. This program allows the player to fine tune their skills focusing on the fundamentals of hockey. Every hockey player should work on these skills daily, and this program is the perfect fit to add another layer of skill while building a solid foundation and keeping the player sharp.

GAME SITUATION PROGRAM

Game situation program designed to bring more read and react drills to help the players work on seeing and making plays earlier. For applicable ages, they will be taught about body contact (eg. how to give and take a hit). There is more freedom and unpredictable outcomes in these drills to help the players train their mind and decision making to read the game more efficiently. This program works great with a group of players.

OFF ICE PROGRAM

Off ice training brings a different element to your game. With a wide range of hockey specific drills to translate on to the ice, you will see a variety of ways to improve your game while keeping your skates off. This is outside (summer only) and will be weather dependent. There will be a variety of exercises tied into drills to allow the player to improve their fitness and skills at the same time.
